week 9

$21.24 on school supplies

$30.70 on food
$10.07 on hairspray

Total : $40.77

Overall, an average week.
A lot of money spent on food though...

I need to be especially harder on myself in the next while.
Even though my spendings don't imply it, I am nearly broke!
My hours have been cut at work, which would normally be a great thing, considering that I am so busy with school and final assignments. But fact of the matter is, with final assignments come high costs.
Prints, film, you name it. And the numbers stack up pretty high before long.

SO I HAVE A CHALLENGE!

I am going to go through this whole next week without buying any food.
Plus it's my mom's birthday so if I'm going to spend any money, it should be on her present :)

Wish me luck!

week 8

Sorry this post is later than usual!
You wouldn't not believe my weekend ...
ANYWAYS

Week 8!

$63.20 on school supplies

$37.99 on makeup and beauty products
$19.20 on food

Total : $57.19

Wow! This week was expensive!
I have really been slacking with food this past couple of weeks, so I will do my best this week to resist.
As for all the money I spend on school supplies, $40.00 was spent on reloading print-cards, and the remaining $23.20 was spent on getting something printed at the digital output center.

It kills me how expensive makeup can be!
For real, I wish I was one of those girls who was brace enough not to wear any.
I find that I spend the most makeup money on foundation.
And in defense of my weekly total, I know that I spent a good $25ish on foundation alone.
Why you ask?
Because I had to buy two.
Why you ask?
Because the first one didn't match my skin-tone! >:(

I hate it when that happens ...
different makeup brands must use different scales for their skin-tones.
I am always "classic ivory" so I assumed that If I bought a different brand of foundation, as long as it had the same name it would have to be the same shade.
Wrong-o !

I'll seriously have to upload a photo later. The difference in shades is HUGE!

Thanks for taking the time to read my rant ^^

strategies

My last post for week 7 got me thinking about shopping strategies, things people do to keep them from impulse buying. I remembered a few that my friends told me throughout the years. Everyone seems to have one or two that work for them. I should probably adopt a couple of theirs, here they are:

1.) The Paper Clip:

My best friend's mom would take out all the cash she needed for one day in the morning. Then she would separate them into piles ( for example, a $20 for gas money, $40 for groceries ... ect.) She would write down on little pieces of paper what that money was for, and then paperclip it to the money. So instead of having a loose $20 in your wallet, it would be labeled, and have a purpose. That kept her from just spending it without thinking.

2.) The Number:

When I used to go shopping with my old friend's in high-school, before they would buy anything they would look at the price, and seriously consider it. Then, they would think to themselves, "Out of ten, how badly do I really want to buy this?". By assigning a number to the item, it becomes a lot easier to see is as a product or an item, instead of getting all attached to it. They would also have a "cut off number" in their head. So, if their rating for that product fell below the number, they wouldn't buy it. For example, If I saw a sweater I really liked, and gave it a rating of 7 out of 10, and my cutoff number was 8, I wouldn't but the sweater.

These are a couple that I have seen work in action.
And here are some more strategies that have been recommended online:

- Know what you Came For
- Shop with a Friend
- Sleep on the Decision
- Distract Yourself

What about you guys? Do you have any shopping strategies?

Clothes on a Rack

week 7

Alllright! Week 7!

I have been SUPER SICK this last week. I'm not sure how this is going to effect my spending ...
Historically whenever I feel sorry for myself I go shopping to make myself feel better ...
On that note!

$20.00 on school supplies (print card)

$32.19 on food
$58.22 on clothes

total : $90.41

Wowzaaa so another big week!
even though it was mostly on clothes ... which can't really be helped, can it? :p
I bought a bunch of workout clothes. I guess being bed ridden for days made me a bit antsy. I can't wait to start getting into shape for summer. I don't have a lot of spare time during the school year to exercise, so my body goes to hell. Haha xD

And as for the food, I have been to lazy to prepare for myself. I just bought a bunch of soups and juice at the grocery store, so that all I need to do is heat it up and eat it.
The less amount of effort the better!
I'm a wimp when I'm sick ...
